Sim Upgrade Instruction Guide

To upgrade to your new Sim, please follow these instructions:

Start by turning off the VX670 by pressing and holding the red key until the terminal shuts down.

Once the machine is off, turn it over and remove the battery from the terminal.

You’ll now see the old Sim. Simply slide the sim card out of the slot carefully. You’ll see the bay labelled “Sim”. Now take the new sim, and pop it out of its holding card. Slide the new sim back into the slot so that the outline matches the sim card in the same bay the old sim was removed from.

Reinsert the battery back into the terminal.

Turn on the machine by pressing the green key and holding it until the machine turns on.

As the machine turns on, it will try to connect to the GPRS network.  An error message “Error Code -1”, will appear, however this is to be expected as we need to change the settings on the terminal to allow the new Sim to connect to the GPRS network.

Once on the main menu, press the left purple key to scroll until you see “Utility”. Select F2 for Utility”. Scroll again until you see “GPRS Settings”, press F2. Select the address type as IP and select F2.

We’re now going to change the IP address to 117.120.35.9

a.Type 117 then a dot (1 and then Alpha Key scroll through the letters until you get to the dot)
b.Type 120 dot (1 and then Alpha Key)
c. Type 35 dot (1 and the Alpha key)
d. Type 9
Press the green Enter button to enter the secondary IP address. This will be the same IP address, so proceed through the above steps from “a” to “d”

Enter and you’ll see the Port “33876”, press Enter and move to “Use SSL?”. Select F1 for No and then select the address setup as DHCP, F1. Press the green Enter key.

We’ll now change the APN to VIAPOS. We do this by selecting the corresponding number with the letter that we want and selecting the Alpha key until we see the lower case letter; V, I, A, P, O, S. Again, VIAPOS must be in lower case. Press Enter and you’ll see a Username field blank, press Enter again for password, Enter again and your terminal will re-boot.

As the terminal reboots, you should not see the “Error Code -1”. Simply, Log on your machine once it’s re-booted by pressing the left purple button until you see “Log On” and select F1. The machine will start an EMV Download, once completed, press the green button and an “Accepted” receipt will print.

To return your old Sim Card to Viaduct, simply take the return courier bag, place the old Sim into the bag, seal the bag and call the courier number provided on the instructions. Alternatively you can call Viaduct at 0800 484 238.
